Have you ever experienced a moment in nature that left you spellbound, feeling an inexplicable connection to something greater? Such encounters have the power to transform our lives, leading us down uncharted paths of spiritual discovery. Join me as I recount an extraordinary experience I had on Goat Rock Beach in Sonoma, California, where the boundaries between the physical and spiritual worlds blurred.

On that evening, as I strolled along Goat Rock Beach, I did not participate the profound encounter awaiting me. Suddenly, an enigmatic energy enveloped my being, transporting me into a euphoric trance. Love and tranquility filled my heart, and this state of bliss endured for hours, offering a glimpse into a realm beyond the everyday.

I had a lucid dream that evening, I heard the angelic sound of a harp that resonated within me, weaving an ethereal melody through my thoughts as I slept. Awakening the following morning, I instinctively reached for my guitar, tuning it to D# – A# – D – G – G – D, mirroring the otherworldly harmonies of the harp I had heard. As if guided by an unseen force, I effortlessly composed the "Shining Light" song, its creation seamlessly flowing from my fingertips.

Throughout the process of writing the song, the lingering effects of the trance persisted, leaving me yearning for understanding. It was not until I read the lyrics that the true depth of its meaning became apparent, and a sense of wonderment came over me. The verses conveyed the poignant story of my mother's untimely passing from a brain aneurysm in the prime of her life, a wound that never quite healed in my heart.

Drawn to Buddhist philosophy, I had immersed myself in the teachings that view us as interconnected with the universe's atoms. Every passing second, these atoms course through our bodies, carrying the essence of all time and human consciousness. Could it be that they hold the souls of our loved ones? Was Goat Rock Beach a sacred space, acting as a conduit between realms? And most profoundly, did this song serve as a testament to the reincarnation of my mother's soul, channeled through the music that emerged from that transformative dream?

This awe-inspiring encounter opened a door to a new realm of sacred music, where the creative process transcends the boundaries of the physical world. It sparked a profound journey of self-discovery, inviting me to explore the interconnectedness of all beings and the mysteries that lie beyond the veil of our everyday existence.

The experience on Goat Rock Beach forever changed the trajectory of my life. Through an intense connection with nature and the universe, I was granted a glimpse into the ethereal, where dreams intermingle with reality, and music becomes a conduit for profound emotions and spiritual revelations. As we venture forth, let us remain open to the wonders that await us in the embrace of nature, for there are truths yet to be unveiled and melodies yearning to be sung.

Can the dead speak? We can only speculate until we enter the twilight world. Until then, I find comfort knowing that the ones we love live through us in the mysterious beauty of music and art under the watchful eyes of the cosmos.

lyrics

Mother can you hear the sound of children laughing
Children laughing at your feet
And if you gather them around, into a circle
The story starts where we will meet

For the days are passing by
They’re numbered by a time
When the sun sets on us all
We’ll join you in this rhyme

Father can you see the light
A silent memory, a silent memory in your mind
Your children gather around and feel your sorrow
A fallen tree lies on the ground

For the days are passing by
They’re numbered by a time
When the sun sets on us all
We’ll join you in this rhyme

Rest your soul we're doing fine
We miss your smile, but it's alright
We sing this song for you tonight
Your memory lingers in our minds

Brother can you hear these words
These words we borrow
From the fables of our lives
For, in the end, we find
A place of knowing
Knowing that our fears are blind

For the days are passing by
They’re numbered by a time
When the sun sets on us all
We’ll join you in this rhyme

Rest your soul we're doing fine
We miss your smile, but it's alright
We sing this song for you tonight
Your memory lingers in our minds

And all the love that we share
Comes from knowing that you're there
It guides our dreams in the night
Your stars shining light

Rest your soul we're doing fine
We miss your smile, but it's alright
We sing this song for you tonight
Your memory lingers in our minds
